CANZA is delighted to join forces with the Aussie & Kiwi Film Fest and Edison Filmhub to bring Edison DownUnder to Prague – a new series of film nights celebrating cinema from Australia and New Zealand.
For more than a decade, the Aussie & Kiwi Film Fest has been bringing the stories, perspectives and creativity of Australia and New Zealand to Czech audiences. Edison DownUnder builds on that tradition, creating more opportunities throughout the year to discover films from both sides of the Tasman.
Hosted at Edison Filmhub in the heart of Prague, the series will feature a mix of classic and contemporary Australian and New Zealand cinema – from established favourites to new voices and films that Czech audiences may otherwise rarely have the chance to see on the big screen.
Why Edison? Ryan Keating, an Australian film programmer, journalist and long-time member of Prague’s film community, is part of the team at Edison Filmhub. Since 2019, Ryan has been bringing audiences together around cinema through screenings, discussions and conversations with filmmakers, critics and other guests – making Edison a natural home for a regular celebration of Australian and New Zealand film.
For CANZA, the partnership is also about more than film. Our aim has always been to create connections between Australia, New Zealand and the Czech Republic, and to bring our community together through shared culture and experiences. Edison DownUnder gives us another great reason to do exactly that.
